Hi! I'm Trine (Pronounced Trina). My mom is Danish & Swedish, and gave us all authentic Danish names, hence the Danish spelling. I was born in the beautiful seaside town of Newport Beach in Southern California. Almost every summer, as soon as school was out, we were on our way to visit my mother's Danish homeland.
Long summer days were filled with country drives through red poppy & golden wheat fields, forest walks, and beach days swimming in crystal blue waters. We enjoyed dinners in my aunt's garden, listening to the blackbirds' sweet summer song, sitting under hanging birch tree branches dancing in the wind. We made watercolor and pastel paintings of the countryside and things we had seen. My aunt was an artist and always encouraged us to paint and draw. She would take us to all the museums to see the latest exhibitions.
It was these long summers in Denmark that grew in me a love for the outdoors and inspired me to create and capture all the things I was experiencing. My mom would take photos of all our adventures. As soon as we got home we would go drop off the film to get developed right away so we could relive our summer trip.
I took the photography class at Newport Harbor High School. Immediately it was all I could think about, planning how many photos I could get printed and what to shoot after school. Most of the students would do their projects and be done. This left enough room in the darkroom for me to take up 5 enlargers, printing and developing as fast I could. One time my teacher came in and saw what I was doing and exclaimed "What are you doing! You're using 5 enlargers!" I laughed and said, "No one else is using them!" He looked at my prints and saw they were family photos and said, "You better be making money on these." I laughed again and said, "One of my friends just hired me to shoot their wedding." He said "Good." and walked out of the darkroom.
I studied photography at The School Of Photography at Orange Coast College. Considered to be one of the finest photography and digital imaging programs in the United States. Being able to focus solely on photography was such an amazing experience that I would recommend it to anyone wanting to seriously get into photography. I had some of the best times of my life being surrounded by amazing teachers and students who really inspired me to create.
While going to school, I would come up to San Luis Obispo almost every month to visit my sister who was studying Graphic Design at Cal Poly. It was then that I fell in love with the Central Coast and knew I wanted to live here. It is the perfect combination of city and nature. Downtown SLO has an amazing vibe. Every Thursday night the main street in town is closed off for The Downtown SLO Farmers’ Market bringing the whole town out with a great atmosphere. We have some of the best wineries, hikes, beaches, hot springs and are just south of the incredible coastline of Big Sur. It is truly a dream to be able to call San Luis Obispo home.
If you are considering getting married in the San Luis Obispo or Paso Robles areas I would highly recommend it. We have some of the most amazing wedding venues and vendors here to make your wedding a dream wedding, a place all your friends and family wouldn't mind traveling to. Feel free to reach out if you are visiting. I would love to show you some of my favorite spots and help connect you with our amazing community here in SLO.
I have had the privilege to be a part of so many couples big day. It is truly an honor to have attended and captured all the weddings I have, including traveling to the islands of Cyprus & Zakynthos in Greece, Virgin Islands, Hawaii, New Zealand, England, Sweden, Dominican Republic and all over the United States. I have captured big weddings with over 300 people to small weddings on a catamaran off the coast of Santa Barbara with 20 people to an elopement in the pines by the sea in Cambria with just the couple and an officiant. I always think, if this was my wedding day, how would I want it to be captured. I would love to talk to you about your wedding day and see if we would be a good fit. Looking forward to meeting you. -Trine
